Puppetry Lab for Key Stage 1
The World of Feelings
In this workshop, children will explore the world of feelings: their different qualities, why we have them and what to do about them. We will also read two beautiful children’s books, Feelings, inside my heart and in my head by Libby Walden & The River by Tom Percival, and learn how to create different shadow puppets.
It’s Monster Time! Fear & Other Tricky Emotions
Explore two funny stories, The Problem With Problems by Rachel Rooney and Do Not Enter The Monster Zoo by Amy Sparkes. What can you do when you find a sticky problem and feel fear? Children will create their own monster puppets and discover that they are usually way more scared of us than we are of them.
The Hugging Tree & Building Resilience Together
In this workshop, children explore how to deal with difficult emotions and the magical ingredients that can make us stronger, even in the middle of a storm. Children will be invited to make different kinds of hand puppets and to create their own stories inspired by the books The Worrying Worries by Rachel Rooney and The Hugging Tree by Jill Neimark.
